I AM

Exodus 3:14

Hello, Special Reader — Before we get started, let us pray.

In Jesus name, Heavenly Father, we thank You. Thank You for bringing this wonderful soul here to meet with You (“I AM“). We don’t believe it’s by chance or coincidence, we know it’s a divine appointment. So right now, Lord, we ask that whatever You had for them, they would see it. Whatever You wanted to give them, they would receive it in Jesus name.

Open their eyes, Lord. Open their heart. Open their ears and their understanding. Remove anything that would block them from hearing You. Give them wisdom to know this isn’t just another blog, another moment — this is holy ground. May Your Spirit speak, move, and transform them, all so that You are glorified, and so that they walk away changed. In Jesus name. Amen.

I AM WHO I AM

An introduction by GOD Himself.
I believe that GOD revealing Himself in this way was His way of laying the foundation of His sovereignty for the rest of Scripture and generations to come. The name I AM, as simple as it is, evokes a sense of finality, almost as if GOD is saying, “I do not change; there is no adding to or taking away from Me.”

Growing up, I never understood this introduction. What does it mean? Who exactly is I AM? Along the line I just assumed/ came to the understanding that what GOD was trying to say here is that HE is who HE says HE is, no need for an introduction. I assumed HE was saying ‘I AM is simply GOD’.

While preparing for this segment, I found myself meditating and reflecting on why GOD would choose to reveal Himself in such indirect words. Why not state it plainly—that He is GOD, the only true GOD? As I continued to ponder this, I believe the Holy Spirit began to reveal something to me:

I AM is more

I AM is everything you’ll ever need

I AM WHO I AMMORE THAN A NAME

I AM is much more than just a name, it is an invitation.

‘God said to Moses, “ I am who I am . This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘ I am has sent me to you.’ ” God also said to Moses, “Say to the Israelites, ‘The Lord , the God of your fathers—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob—has sent me to you.’ “This is my name forever, the name you shall call me from generation to generation. ‘

Exodus 3:14-15

Something interesting about the Israelites is that while they were in Egypt, they had no awareness of GOD. The only thing they knew about GOD was that their ancestors worshipped Him, but that’s about it. That generation of Israelites did not have a personal relationship with GOD, there was never a time that the Israelites wholeheartedly believed in Him or served Him. Even then we see a foretaste of what was yet to come;

‘But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. ‘

Romans 5:8

This lack of knowledge on their part did not stop GOD from rescuing them. He saw their oppression, and that alone was enough for Him to draw them out. The truth is, anyone living outside the will of GOD is living in oppression. We still experience this today in various forms. Some face hardships as severe as the Israelites did, slavery, racism, and rejection as foreigners in a prosperous land like Egypt. Others may be like Moses, surrounded by comfort, wealth, and stability, yet still feeling out of place and longing for something more.

So when the Lord revealed Himself to Moses and the rest of Israel as I AM, GOD was saying, I see your need for Me, and I AM will satisfy you.” The good news is that this revelation was not just for the Israelites—it was also for you. GOD had you in mind when He gave this name. Sometimes, we go through hardships so complex that we can’t even name them—and we see this throughout Scripture.
